Re: Stress and Heart Attack
To the Quiet List:
Do look at The World Book Health & Medical Annual (1998) on p.236.
There is a section on noise and it states that noise is a health hazard. It
also says"...studies suggest that high levels of everyday noise can also
raise blood pressure, disrupt the development of reading and thinking skills,
and stimulate stress hormones." Parents and their children will read the
World Book and learn that noise is a stressor. As you know World Book is
read by many people. Now if we can only get the press to read this book.
Then the reporters may take noise dangers more seriously.
For us who recognize the hazards of noise, the noise section appearing
in the annual manual is especially good news.
