Conference on Acoustical Violence
The following is the latest information available on the Conference on
Acoustical Violence. It's somewhat lengthy, but if you judge it convinient,

This Conference will be held as a part of the "Healthy Sound Environment
Week", recently established by the City Council, and it is organized by
the "Asociacion de Logopedia, Foniatria y Audiologia del Litoral"
(ASOLOFAL), and sponsored by the "Fundacion para la Prevencion de la
Violencia" (FUNPREVI) as well as other scientific organizations.
The general objective is to get a multidiscipli-nary approach to a sort
of violence generally not acknowledged as such, as well as to bring
together different prevention criteria.
a) Urban acoustical violence
Noise in transportation
Acoustical Violence due to individuals (house-hold appliances,
building repairs, etc.)
Mega-shows, public performances and shows
Noise over the River and its effects on Nature
Architectural prevention resources at buildings and works
Noise effects on the community
Consequences of urban acoustical violence
b) Social acoustical violence
Noise at home
Noise at school: effects on pupils and teachers
Noise at hospitas and health care institutions
Entertainment noise (walkman, TV, radio, audio equipment)
Noise control resources for home and school
Consequences of social acoustical violence
c) Occupational acoustical violence
Industry and labor noise
The new Occupational Risk Act and the Occupational Risk Insurance
Noise and vibration control
Simulation and disimulation
Consequences of the occupational acoustical violence.
Papers covering any of the Conference topics will be received up to
September 15, 1997. Please submit in printed version (A4 paper size) and
in text or Word 6.0 file on a 3 1/2" IBM compatible diskette.
Three panels, each on one of the main topics, will be held gathering
experts from several disciplines (medicine, psychology, engineering,
phonoaudiology, architecture, law).
Finally, there will be five lectures on :
Noise and fuzzy interests
High frequency audiometry
Coclear and general physiopatology of noise
Note: the panels and lectures will be spanish-spoken, but it is possible
to arrange to have a translation service.
